ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

Come down and get involved in the activities we have going on in the park!

Friends of Felling Park and Town Centre

It’s two years since the volunteer group came into existence and the number of Volunteers has grown.

The group has made a fantastic impact both in the Park and the Library but the demands upon us to continue with these tasks are never ending.

We are in existence because of the reduction in central government funding to local councils. We realise there isn’t enough money available to maintain services through council funding.

So The Friends of Felling Park and Town Centre were formed and we now have a hard working dedicated group of volunteers, but we do need more help. We’re asking anyone who can spare a few hours, either weekly or on an ad hoc basis; to get in touch. You will be amazed at how little time you need to contribute to make a great difference and the advantages are many, making new friends or renewing old acquaintances, social involvement, therapeutic and healthy activities, plus you do not need to over exert yourself; just come and go as you please.

Our volunteers feel great pride in being involved with improving our local Park and Town Centre and gain satisfaction from their work.

If you don’t have the time to give there are still ways you can help, we are currently looking for home gardeners and allotment holders to help with growing plants or spare seeds that could be donated as the cost of planting through the year is very high.

We have held events in the Park, Square and Library, the most noticeable being Halloween in the Park in conjunction with Edberts House and the Christmas Tree in the square in 2016 and 2017, fully managed by our group. All of these events are organised and run by volunteers and as these grow we need new faces to help us progress.

Funding is mainly raised by funding bids. This can be very time consuming and relies on the funds being specific to our needs and though successful in the past, there are limitations.

We now feel that we need to make greater progress and so we are appealing to the community to please consider making any type of donation. This could be one off or a monthly standing order to the group’s bank account; the amount would be entirely up to the individual and can be stopped at any time. Donations can also be made in person, donation tins will be available in the near future in local businesses.

We would continue to report back to the community as to how the money was  spent.

The FFPTC hold meetings every 3rd Wednesday of the month (7:15pm at the Holly Hill Club) everyone is invited and we welcome any new volunteers with suggestions or ideas.

We hope you take the time to consider this and view it with an open mind.
